  1. What happens when yoou stop taking hydroxychloroquine abruptly

As a result, the body produces antibodies that inflict cell damage, most commonly targeting joints, skin, kidneys and the nervous system. I think even though they say it doesn't make a difference, I feel wierd if I don't take my plaquenil sometimes. Hi want2bepainfree, If you don't have to, don't stop your plaquenil. No one knows but I cry sometimes when no one is around to see me. Hugs, Mel Hello all, I am currently new to this site and ran across the discussion about stopping Plaquenil. Join the group and find support for coping with lupus. I stopped taking the plaquenil the beginning of December. And when I'm crying like a baby--I could feel the pain just throb in me. I took plaquenil for several years, then I went to the Mayo Clinic and they didn't think I had lupus and took me off. I have been taking Plaquenil for about 8-9 months and thought that it was not helping me because I still have a fair amount of joint pain, fatigue, muscle pain and so many other issues.

Nov 12, 2009 Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. If you're gonna experiment, I went off it cold turkey as it didn't hurt to do it that way, but you better get back on before the summer or you could experience a flare-up. I had no problems taking Hydroxychloriquine for RA as it stopped the flare up in a short time. Stupidly I thought I didn't need it so asked my doc if I could stop. That's when I became inflamed but not the joints until another flare up 11 months later. I think it keep my acute pancreatitis at bay as well as RA. Stop taking hydroxychloroquine and call your doctor at once if you have trouble focusing, if you see light streaks or flashes in your vision. What happens if I miss a dose Plaquenil, Plaquenil Sulfate, Quineprox? Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose.

It doesn't agree with my stomach (I take it with meals too). The pain in my swollen neck glands is horrific, and my arms and legs are hurting once again. Why does it seem like my whole life just turned for the worst --it was like I was fine one day and the next I'm so ill. It was pure hell, every joint in my body hurt and the fatigue was tremendous. As Tracy stated it is such as slow acting drug when you first start it, it's really hard to tell if it's working, it's not until we stop the med that we realize what a huge difference it was making. I happen to run out of my medication and fail to be in a hurry to get a refill because I had convinced myself that it wasn't working anyway. I missed 2 doses and felt a lot of pain in my arms, and had a pretty bad couple of days. Just wondering if any of you experience any pain if you don't take a few pills.

  7. I have read about people stopping P & flaring up. Those who stopped it abruptly had real problems similar to what you are experiencing. If you really need to get off it, I would taper down slowly, very slowly. There is a similar posting on Healthunlocked, "Why oh why did u stop taking plaquenil." You may want to check it out.

A simple question can you just stop taking Metformin or should you reduce it slowly. A friend of mine, no its not me, has recently been diagnosed Type 2, 219 mg/dl 12.2 mmol/L and was stuck straight onto Metfornin with very little guidance. It depends on which ones you're using, but I'll assume it's some form of an SSRI. Personally, I was using effexor. I tapered off quickly, and it was hell. What they don't tell you is that SSRIs often have terrible withdrawals. These are just some. I was wondering what would happen when you stop taking plaquenil after trying it out for 3- 6 months. If you have a tolerance for methadone and just suddenly stop taking it, you will begin to.

Psoriatic Arthritis - prednisone + plaquenil treatment. Now I take 2.5 mg daily and 200 mg Plaquenil daily. Flares happen a few times a year at which time I take a second dose of each medication. I have not found any posts about people on these medications for psoriatic arthritis. They have served me well. I should add that I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia years prior to the psoriatic arthritis.
